Senior Backend Software Engineer

We are on the lookout for a talented and dedicated Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team at Commerce, contributing to the Feedonomics Platform. As part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, you will play a key role in scaling and delivering essential components and services for our high-performance, data-driven SaaS platform.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Collaborating on the architecture, design, and development of scalable, highly available applications and services.
  • Resolving complex infrastructure issues through coding and providing post-release support for applications.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to DevOps practices and tools, enhancing the CI/CD pipeline through automation to streamline application development and deployment.
  • Driving technology design discussions and articulating architectural options to product owners and engineering leadership.
  • Conducting post-mortem analyses to learn from failures and enhance future performance.
  • Advocating for Continuous Improvement in all aspects of infrastructure and systems.
  • Evaluating and recommending tools, technologies, and processes to address specific business challenges.
  • Becoming a domain expert by staying informed on industry trends and applying best practices while contributing to their continuous improvement.

Who You Should Be:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend programming.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in PHP (preferred), Python, GoLang, Java, or a similar programming language.
  • 2+ years of experience with MySQL or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of database schema design, caching, and scalability.
  • Solid grasp of various communication protocols such as TCP and RPC.
  • In-depth knowledge of Distributed Systems.
  • Familiarity with caching technologies like Redis or Memcached is a plus.
  • Preferred experience in DevOps.
  • Experience with full-stack observability tools such as New Relic is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD and containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Ability to analyze time and memory complexity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

The exact salary will be determined by the successful candidate's location, relevant skills, knowledge, and qualifications.
