About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic API Engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the technical design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of vital features and integrations for our backend systems. You will work on REST API endpoints, database schema modifications, performance optimization, security enhancements, and more.

Your experience will guide your decision-making, and you will proactively conduct research to discover the best solutions for each technical challenge. You will also mentor and support less experienced developers, promoting a collaborative learning environment where constructive dialogue and evidence-based discussions thrive. Your contributions will be crucial to the strength of our API engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of key components of our engineering infrastructure.
  • Facilitate important technical discussions to ensure that the best solutions are reached while considering any constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leads for the planning and execution of large, complex projects.
  • Contribute directly to the development and maintenance of essential features.
  • Enhance code quality and uphold engineering best practices through code reviews, technical presentations, and thoughtful refactoring.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for engineering candidates at various experience levels, aiding in hiring decisions.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python and its ecosystem as your primary development environment.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs.
  • 3+ years of experience with web frameworks like Django (preferred), Flask, or Rails.
  • 2+ years of experience working with relational SQL databases.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting production issues.

Expected Pay Range: $160,000 - $180,000.
