Scope:

The overall goal of the Senior Activity Coordinator role is to assist individuals living in designated or senior properties by offering services, service connection, and activities to assist residents in aging comfortably; ultimately avoiding premature or unnecessary entrance into an institutionalized program.

Accountability:

Senior Activity Coordinator reports directly to the Resident Services Department Program Manager.

Relevant Duties Include:

This position is responsible for providing services, service connection, and activities to residents living in OCHA's Senior or Designated Public Housing.
  • Senior Activity Coordinator is responsible for working with residents, conducting needs assessments, assisting with resident-driven goal setting, and making referrals for services. Coordinator works with households assisting residents in exceling in daily life. Coordinator will cover a minimum of two housing sites or properties.
  • Provide coordination and coaching using a client-centered approach to residents. Work collaboratively with residents to holistically meet their needs, create and maintain a confidential environment, and assist in coordinating educational and/or community events. This includes assisting with other tasks as assigned to facilitate services to residents.
  • Coordinator will conduct home- or field-based visits with residents as needed.
  • Create, conduct, and implement activities, at a minimum every other week at each site, for residents promoting participation and engagement for all residents which include innovative and appropriate activities that stimulate creativity and community engagement.
  • Coordinator is responsible for timely data entry, reports, and caseload maintenance in a case management reporting system. Measuring program outcomes by tracking program activities, monitoring participant progress, managing data, and maintaining organized records. Coordinator will prepare, assist, and complete time sensitive reports.
  • The Service Activity Coordinator is responsible for understanding and remaining in compliance with coordinator best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The Service Activity Coordinator must possess excellent communication skills while using sound judgement and exhibiting flexibility, as communication is imperative to this position. The Service Activity Coordinator must perform all work in a culturally responsive manner consistent with OCHA's mission and philosophy as well as industry best practices.
  • Attendance of various ongoing meetings and trainings is required with this position. Meetings may include but are not limited to ongoing meetings with residents, community meetings with partner organizations, as well as weekly and biweekly staffing meetings with the Activity Manager and/or property management.
  • Senior Activity Coordinator is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with referral agencies and community partners. Must have working knowledge of community resources and benefits to provide residents with community resources.

  • Strong, proven ability to: mediate differences of philosophy and opinion; maintain calm, efficient, and good-humored approach to work while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, highly productive work environment
  • Ability to comfortably drive or commute to neighborhoods throughout the community. Must have own vehicle with insurance and a valid driver's license. (Mileage reimbursement available)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Skills in sustaining a collaborative, teamwork-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of surrounding community
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and design applications such as Canva
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivator

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology, or other social science preferred. Must possess an Oklahoma driver's license with an acceptable driving record and maintain insurable driving record under the terms and conditions of the OCHA auto liability policy. Reliable transportation is a must.

Physical:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to maintain stationary position, operate computers and other office equipment, move about an office, attend on- and offsite meetings, and access various types of housing. The employee must be able to stand or sit for eight hours while performing job duties. The employee must have vision strong enough to read and write correspondence, read and complete reports, etc. Hearing and speech must be sufficient to communicate clearly and effectively in person and by telephone. Physical range of motion and coordination for extensive work with files and resident activities as well as the ability to access all types of housing, apartment complexes, and office buildings. Occasional lifting up to forty pounds.

The employee acknowledges working conditions are stressful at times due to the volume and content of the workload.
