We are seeking an experienced Accountant responsible for developing and maintaining the accounting system and procedures to ensure GASB compliance. At least one year of government accounting experience is highly preferred. Duties include creating and maintaining accounting records, verifying and documenting financial transactions, and preparing and managing departmental budgets. Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Management: Enters journal entries, maintains the accounting database (including the general ledger), monitors transaction documentation, and ensures the integrity of the fiscal reporting system.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Supervises the Accounting Assistant and Senior Accounting Assistant, and provides financial guidance to other departments as needed.
  • Reconciliation and Accuracy: Reconciles bank and balance sheet accounts, researches errors, and oversees corrective actions to maintain data accuracy.
  • Accounting System Oversight: Applies and supervises accounting principles to maintain the accounting system, develops methods for recording and monitoring transactions, and assists in preparing financial reports.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Analyzes, prepares, and distributes various financial, fiscal, and budgetary reports and statements for internal and external use.
  • Budgeting Management: Distributes instructions, interprets policies, reviews complex budgetary requests for accuracy, and develops budgetary forecasts based on needs, trends, and economic changes.
  • Payroll and Procurement Compliance: Reviews and edits payroll files for accuracy, uploads data into the accounting software, and supervises procurement functions to ensure policy compliance.
  • Fixed Asset Tracking: Maintains detailed records for the acquisition and retirement of all fixed assets, including infrastructure.
