Class A Lineman

Class A Lineman works in the construction, maintenance and repair of power, transmission, and distribution lines, both overhead and underground while utilizing line trucks, booms, lifts, and wire pulling equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- All duties as performed as an Apprentice Line Mechanic A7 plus:
- Can install, maintain, or repair distribution facilities of all types while energized or deenergized without supervision.
- Willingness to learn new skills and abilities by participating in continuing education activities.
- Follow safety standards and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One and a half years of experience as a Lineman B with Shelton Energy or completion of formal training program with two-year field, or at least four years of verifiable experience including three years of energized work verifiable experience elsewhere.
- Complete OSHA 10 hr Safety Training Program within 90 days.
- CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
- Possession of climbing tools preferred.
- Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances.
- Desire to learn and commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.

Working conditions/Physical Requirements/Travel
- Working Conditions
- Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions and possible confined space.
- All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English.
- Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling.
- Work is performed within the "red zone" of heavy equipment.
- Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Requirements
- Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
- Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify.
- Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record is required.
- Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by position.

- Travel required. Ability to work on-call, irregular hours, and emergency response.
