Summary

The Experienced Class A Lineman plays a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of power, transmission, and distribution lines, both overhead and underground. This position involves the use of line trucks, booms, lifts, and wire-pulling equipment to perform essential tasks safely and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties as an Apprentice Line Mechanic A7 as well as:
  • Independently install, maintain, or repair various types of distribution facilities, both energized and de-energized.
  • Continuously learn and enhance skills through ongoing education opportunities.
  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures rigorously.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as directed by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  1. High school diploma or GED is required.
  2. Minimum of 1.5 years of experience as a Lineman B with Shelton Energy or equivalent training, including two years of fieldwork or four years of verifiable experience with a minimum of three years in energized work.
  3. Complete OSHA 10 hr Safety Training Program within 90 days of employment.
  4. CDL class A license preferred; must obtain a CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
  5. Possession of climbing tools is preferred.
  6. Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances is essential.
  7. A strong desire to learn and a commitment to quality work and safety are crucial.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Travel

  1. Outdoor work in potentially extreme weather conditions and confined spaces.
  2. Fluency in English is required for understanding written and spoken safety instructions.
  3. Must perform tasks involving prolonged lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling.
