Position Description
Purpose:
Theposition-holder is responsible for coordinating the planning, promotion, andsuccessful implementation of departmental and student-related academicprogramming and communications. Work Schedule: Full-time during theAcademic Year (10 months) and Part-time during the Summer (2 months).
Essential Job Functions:
Student Academic Planning and Coordination (30%):
- Work in coordination with the administrative assistant andthe College of Arts and Sciences professional advisors and departmentaladvisors to coordinate and triage the needs of Psychology students to plannecessary coursework for on time graduation.
- Analyze student registration needs each quarter withpre-registration survey.
- Explain different undergraduate degreeoptions/requirements to prospective students.
- Maintain relationships with current sites and supervisors.
- Investigate new placement options across industries thatemploy and/or train psychologists (both inside and outside of the academy).
- Facilitate student evaluations with site supervisors.
- Be first point of contact for site supervisors to contactwith questions.
- Coordinate and broadly publicize colloquia each quarter withoutside speakers (recruited by chair).
- Coordinate with academic calendar to coordinate events.
- Organize two existing departmental research conferences,hosting 30-40 research presentations across our undergraduate and graduateprograms.
- Coordinate with instructors of courses, as well as mentorsof graduate research theses, to identify scheduling needs, including programtiming (e.g., student schedules).
- Communicate with our faculty to identify and train emceesand point-persons for the event, as well as the roles of student workers.
- Produce and format research conference promotional materialsfor our website, social media, and any relevant handouts (e.g., programs).
- Manage faculty, instructor, and student inquiries.
- Other event coordination.
- Reserve rooms, technology, and catering, as needed.
- Engage in day-of event coordination involving room, signage,and technology set-up, welcoming students, attendees, and presenters to event.
- Technological facilitation of online event sessions, asneeded.
- This position will manage the physical outward facing frontdesk of the department, including taking walk-in questions from students,supervising student workers (in coordination with the administrativeassistant), and answering the phone.
- Maintain the departmental website in coordination with theDirector of Marketing and Communications in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Tracking and posting student awards/featured students andfaculty.
- Collating and managing alumna news (see also: alumnaoutreach).
- Posting colloquia and related information (nationallyrecognized speakers, advertised to university).
- Tracking and posting employment, volunteer opportunities,and general communications via website and social media.
- Draft, edit, and proof-read website documentation andcommunications, for multiple audiences (parents, prospective students, etc.).
- Design and manage websites via the university's contentmanagement system.
- Provide technical assistance and coordinating more complexassistance with IT Services.
- Work in coordination with Seattle University AlumniRelations to engage in alumni outreach.
- Through this outreach, create a repository of information,including data on post-graduate employment, graduate school admissions,post-graduate activities, etc..
- Collate a network for career planning/mentors/job contacts,etc. with our alums and keep updated through regular contact.
- Use online platforms to coordinate networks (e.g., LinkedIn).
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or some college with four or more years ofprogressively responsible experience in program coordination or an equivalentcombination of education and experience.
- Abilityto work independently with little supervision, as well as on team-orientedprojects.
- Ability to successfully complete an online computer skillsassessment administered by the Office of Human Resources.
- Software in theassessment includes: MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. In addition, abilityto manage scheduling software via MS Outlook and to update websites using acontent management system.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interactwith diverse groups of people with a professional demeanor and to manageconfidential information.
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in person,and via written communication.
- Strong writing and editing skills as well as highlyorganized and detail-oriented.
- Experiencewith database software.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $48,536 - $50,719
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that representsits good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at thetime of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will bedetermined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selectedcandidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equityconsiderations, and available market information, and not based on acandidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
Thisposition may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion ofan introductory work period of 3-6 months.
