Raytheon’s Effector Analog and Power (EAP) Team is looking for a senior level engineer who has designed proven digital power converter systems and has expert knowledge of state-of-the-art digital power firmware workflows.The Effector Power Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of Telemetry and Flight Termination products; power systems from all up round to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed signal electronics that provides the analog to digital interface to our front-end sensors. Each of these products generally operates in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V.What You Will DoDesign, analyze, simulate, test, and document digital power converter (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will predominantly involve non-isolated and isolated switch mode power converters with an FPGA- or microcontroller-based controller.Facilitate maturation of the digital power design process that encompasses all aspects of designing, verifying, and maintaining digital controller firmware, as well as circuit card stack development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive configuration management procedures for digital power firmware using a version control system.Develop Agile hardware project management workflow to help digital power teams plan, track, and discuss development of both firmware and hardware. Champion code reuse and coding standards to fast-track digital power converter firmware development.Develop real-time power converter models to accelerate firmware development and verification using a hardware-in-the-loop target machine.Support FPGA and microcontroller roadmap for digital power controllers.Drive to meet schedule concerns. Define schedules for circuit, circuit card, and power system level tasking.Guide ECAD drafters and junior engineers through layout and routing activities. Define layer stackup definitions. Act as an expert regarding creepage and clearance.Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers. Drive the capture of opportunities needed to mature the organization on the technical front.Qualifications You Must HaveBachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant engineering experienceDesign, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with linear converters, and familiarity with all the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.Experience using tool suites such as Azure DevOps for Agile project management, GIT, and MATLAB/Simulink Simscape/ HDL CoderExperience using MathWorks Speedgoat hardware-in-the-loop target machines for real-time firmware verification and/or Texas Instruments C-2000 family of microcontrollers, Microchip PIC controllers, Microchip PolarFire FPGAs, and/or timing closure.Experience with analog electronics design, including all of the following: FETs/BJTs, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.Qualifications We PreferAdvanced degree in Electrical EngineeringUnderstanding of switching converter control techniques and modes such as voltage mode, peak and average current modes, their advantages and disadvantages. Conceptual familiarity and experience must include stability.Experience leading large teams (formally or informally), and experience working with other team leads toward a larger goal.Exposure to managing customer relationships.Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small and large team level and experience presenting to upper levels of management.Experience conducting trade studies relating to power electronics architecture at the circuit card stack level.Experience guiding drafters through the ECAD process, including the layout and routing concerns specific to non-isolated and isolated power electronics.Experience Utilizing and creating electrical design specifications. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
