Job Summary The mission of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) is to prepare students to become technically competent, culturally sensitive, professional and compassionate physicians who are lifelong learners and will serve society by providing comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare with the distinctive osteopathic philosophy. The role of the faculty in the Department of NMM/OMM is to train students according to the COMP Mission Statement. This is accomplished through excellence in curriculum, translational research, service and osteopathic clinical practice. The faculty member is expected to mentor and be a role model for students. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Able and willing to practice NMM/OMM as an adjunct to primary care medicine or other specialty. Ability to communicate effectively with others, in person, in writing, and via other electronic means, such as telephone, email, and the Internet. Ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff and students. Must possess strong organizational, management and administrative abilities. Have demonstrated proficiency in the field of Osteopathic Principles and Practice Required Qualifications Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Evidence of expertise in the application of osteopathic principles and philosophy and OMT in clinical practice. Experience of 2-3 years in NMM/OMM, Family Medicine or other specialty Licensure: Unrestricted State Medical License & Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency certificate Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, or other specialty board. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to individuals possessing residency training in NMM/OMM and/or ONMM Bilingual (English/Spanish) List comments regarding work hours 40 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Posting Date 06/03/2024 Closing Date Special Instructions to Applicants Essential Job Duties Job Duty Develops an integrated approach to osteopathic medical education between the Department of NMM/OMM and Western University of Health Sciences’ (WesternU) faculty, staff and administration. Percentage Of Time 10 Job Duty Assists with integrating OPP into all aspects of the four-year academic curriculum at WesternU. Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Participates in the first- and second-year didactic programs as a lecturer and table trainer. Percentage Of Time 25 Job Duty Participates as a facilitator in the third- and fourth-year clinical rotations programs as assigned. Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Receives training on the OPP curriculum and as an OPP discipline lead with potential to eventually assume an OPP discipline lead or co-discipline lead position. Percentage Of Time 10 Job Duty Participates in professional organizations as assigned to represent Western U and the Department of NMM/OMM (e.g., AAO, AOA, Osteopathic Cranial Academy, etc.). Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Provides service to the University and community whenever possible. Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Participates in community health projects as scheduled by COMP, i.e., Community Driven Physicals, Health Screening, Health Fairs, etc. Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Administers healthcare to the public through the WesternU medical centers or affiliated medical programs as directed by the Department Chair, Vice Chair, and/or the Medical Director, and utilizes NMM/OMM as an integral component of the care provided. Percentage Of Time 20 Job Duty Responsible for maintaining intellectual integrity and striving for academic excellence in their teaching. Percentage Of Time 5 Job Duty Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
