Job Summary The position plays a critical role in the training of veterinary students by providing expertise in clinical specialties, contributing to clinical science lectures and laboratories, problem‑based learning facilitation, and curriculum development. It also involves scholarly activities, advancing clinical sciences, supporting student training across all levels of the DVM program, and participating in college and university committees and governance. Maintaining a California veterinary license and relevant specialty certifications is expected when applicable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to orally communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external contacts. Ability to handle detail‑oriented assignments while maintaining confidentiality. Organizational skills for prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility. Knowledge of educational needs for contemporary veterinary practice. Knowledge and skills in applicable clinical discipline. Commitment to an organization that values and promotes humanism. Required Qualifications Education Advanced degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, PhD, or equivalent) in the discipline of expertise. Licensure (if applicable) Actively licensed in California preferred; current veterinary specialty board certification preferred. Key Responsibilities Training of veterinary students in Foundational and Clinical Sciences: Participate in curricular activities for Year 1 and 2 students, including content expertise, facilitation of Problem‑Based Learning, foundational science lectures & laboratories, clinical science lectures & laboratories, skill development, veterinary issues discussions & presentations, and other ancillary activities. Provide leadership and instruction for Year 3 and 4 courses and activities, including Core and Selective Rotation supervision. Pursuit of scholarly endeavors and professional self‑development: Develop a self‑sustaining research program. Participate in the development of post‑DVM training programs. Mentor veterinary students in research. Engage in local, national, and/or international continuing education programs. Participation in college and university committees: Represent the college to external persons and agencies, including funding agencies. Maintain California veterinary license (and any specialty board certification) and associated continuing education to keep the license current, if applicable. Expected Pay Scale Minimum: $70,000.00 AnnuallyMaximum: $90,000.00 Annually Physical Demands Lifting and manual handling are essential functions. The employee is frequently required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, sit, move room‑to‑room or building‑to‑building while on campus, and may travel off campus for curricular delivery. Restoration of the employee may be required to lift up to 10 pounds in normal office settings. The employee must be able to work with live animals as part of curricular delivery, demonstrating appropriate behaviors and physical capacity. Work Environment The faculty member works in office, classroom, laboratory, farm, clinical practice, research, and other settings. Occasionally exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels occurs. Some travel is required; virtual delivery of curriculum may be considered.
