Job Description The School of Nursing seeks a full-time Lab Manager/Faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and evaluation. This position directs, manages, and evaluates the program to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and works collaboratively with the Campus Associate Dean and Associate Dean of Clinical Education and Experiential Learning. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact and reputation of the University and its programs through research and scholarly engagement. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching in the laboratory courses to BSN Students. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience. The School of Nursing spans three campuses to administer the BSN curriculum. The program began in 2005 to deliver high-quality nursing education that supports the graduate for transition into professional nursing practice. The Faculty of the School of Nursing fosters the development of required nursing skill competency, critical thinking ability and application of nursing knowledge to practice, utilizing a variety of teaching/learning and evaluation methods. Responsibilities • Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities. • Coordinates scheduling of laboratory sessions for non-class or clinical periods to provide individual/group skills practice • Assesses student learning needs in the laboratory and make recommendations for maximum effectiveness of laboratory learning opportunities • Coordinates the ordering of equipment and supplies, maintains inventory; including stockroom supplies and equipment drawers • Prepares laboratory stations prior to assigned lab time, breaking down lab equipment and securing items after instruction, and proper labeling and disposal of waste • Maintains instrumentation and ensures timely instrument/equipment repairs and servicing • Teaches and motivates students, develops appropriate teaching methods, as well as imparts substantive knowledge. Strives to stimulate learning and actively seeks advancement of the teaching and learning process • Demonstrates knowledge of the subject, delivers lectures and facilitates group discussion • Advises and assists students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms • Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment • Attends and participates in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events, and serves as a member of University, School and/or Department committees, as assigned • Contributes to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings • Maintains advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise • Participate in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual. • Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students. • Participate in service activities; serve on committees; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees and volunteer activities; represent the program and University in/at community • Builds and maintains relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector • Collaborates with lab managers, and course faculty across the SON to deliver an effective lab program • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor Requirements Required: • Master's degree in Nursing (or a BS in Nursing with a Master's degree in a related field), Doctorate preferred (PhD, EdD, DNP, DHS) • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) preferred • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in MA (or eligible) • A minimum of three years of experience in nursing practice • Strong communication, time management, interpersonal and organization skills • Ability to set priorities with high attention to detail • Commitment to undergraduate education and student success • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Demonstrated leadership ability • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry executives) • Record of scholarly activities commensurate with an academic appointment • Evidence of teaching excellence • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment Physical Requirements: • Able to work with the lab/simulation equipment • Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings • Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure • Ability to be physically in attendance on campus at designated worksite during scheduled work hours and to work some evenings and weekends • Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction) • Ability to lift up to 5-25 lbs.
