Exceptional Children's Paraprofessional

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an accomplished and team-oriented educator to serve as a 1:1 support person for an exceptional student. The ideal applicant has a strong background in student support and experience working with students in exceptional programs at the middle or secondary level. The RTHS Exceptional Students Department believes in working as a team and holding students at the center of the work. Applicants need to apply our personalized learning model to help a student manage his or her time and daily tasks. Applicants need to be comfortable working with medically fragile students.
At RTHS, faculty members support clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities, as well as actively mentor students.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Support 1 student who needs help accessing technology tools and notetaking.
Attend classes with student each period of the day.
Be trained in assisting student in emergency situations.
Maintain contact with parents and teachers to help student access material and understand expectations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelors degree in related content area
Experience
At least one year of working in a school system assisting students with special needs. Three years of experience preferred. NC licensure is not required but is an asset.
