Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts receivable, payroll, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Accounting & Bookkeeping:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for construction projects, tracking all costs (materials, labor, subcontractors).
  • Reconcile project-related accounts with project budgets.
  • Process payroll for project teams, ensuring accurate deductions, taxes, and benefits.

Project Cost Management:

  • Assist in tracking, analyzing, and forecasting project costs to ensure budgets are met.
  • Work with project managers to monitor cash flow for ongoing projects.
  • Prepare detailed project reports on costs, payments, and remaining budgets.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations specific to construction.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
  • Prepare and submit lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and other required project documents.

Contract & Billing Support:

  • Review and process contractor and subcontractor billing, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing contracts, ensuring financial terms are accurately captured.
  • Monitor contract milestones, progress billing, and ensure timely invoicing and collections.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with audits and internal financial reviews.
  • Maintain accurate filing and documentation systems for financial records.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required by accounting and project management teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Experience is MANDATORY) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of job costing, change orders, subcontractor management, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal tax regulations applicable to the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well with project managers and team members.
