Education & Qualifications Requirements:
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business/public administration, management, economics or a related field is required.
Work Experiences:
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, youth development/empowerment or related area is required.
- Experience in inter-agency/inter-governmental coordination on youth issues, and designing, planning, and implementing youth programmes is required.
- Current knowledge of sustainable development, global youth policy outlook and trends is required.
- Experience in youth-related evidence generation and research is desirable.
- Prior experience in working on youth programming within the UN is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For the positions advertised, fluency in either language is required; and knowledge of the other is desirable.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of assigned programmes/projects.
- Carry out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations, and other activities, including collecting, analyzing, and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources.
- Provide substantive support for coordination and monitoring functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in research activities and studies.
- Assist in collaboration with the client, by planning and facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
- Assist with the design of data collection tools, review, analyze and interpret responses; identify problems/issues and prepare preliminary conclusions.
- Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
- Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings and conferences including proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposing participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, and handling logistics.
- Undertake outreach activities; participate in the development of training workshops and seminars; participate in and make presentations on assigned topics/activities.
- Participate in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, and data collection.
