Job Summary

As a Network Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our rapidly growing core network infrastructure. You will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and optimizing key network components to ensure optimal performance, security, and high availability. This hands-on technical role demands expertise in supporting large-scale network deployments, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvement efforts to support i3’s growth and enhance customer satisfaction.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level network solutions, integrating core, aggregation, and access layers to support broadband, video, and voice services.
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) from vendors such as Cisco, DZS, and Nokia.
  • Monitor network performance, diagnose issues, resolve problems, and escalate as needed to ensure optimal availability and performance.
  • Plan and forecast network capacity to accommodate i3’s expanding subscriber base, ensuring sufficient bandwidth and minimizing congestion.
  • Implement network security measures, including access controls, encryption, and firewall policies, to safeguard against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, operational procedures, and performance reports.
  • Collaborate with field technicians, NOC staff, and vendor support teams to ensure timely and efficient incident resolution.
  • Participate in hardware and software updates, firmware upgrades, and system patching to maintain system performance and security compliance.
  • Recommend and implement network improvements to enhance reliability, redundancy, and overall performance.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather and address network requirements.
  • Mentor and train engineers, helping them become subject matter experts in network technologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and change logs, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation to demonstrate problem identification and resolution processes.
  • Follow established configuration and change management policies to ensure proper approval and successful implementation of network infrastructure changes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • In-depth knowledge of the OSI or TCP/IP model, including IPv4, IPv6, NAT, and CGNAT.
  • Proficient in networking best practices, including:
  • Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS)
  • Spanning-tree, VTP, Port Channels, Load Balancing, SPAN
  • DDI Management Services: DNS, DHCP, IPAM
  • MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Segment Routing Concepts
  • NAT
  • Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) configuration and implementation.
  • Solid knowledge of network security best practices.
  • Experience in deploying and monitoring network diagnostic and analytics tools.
  • Automation expertise:
  • Building network configurations as code in a reproducible, idempotent manner.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of in-depth working experience in network and telecom environments.
  • Proven experience as a network engineering or similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods, working at a computer up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to operate personal computers, telephones, and other common office equipment.
