Description of Work Unit Adult Learner and Veteran Services (ALVS) supports the matriculation, retention, and graduation of students at Colorado State University through direct service to adult learners, student parents and student veterans, as well as through campus-wide programs and services focused on education, leadership, and service. ALVS creates and supports opportunities for interaction between ALVS students and University and community constituencies to provide a learning environment that supports all students.
Position Summary The Program Coordinator is responsible for participation in development and implementation of success strategies for all CSU Adult Learners (including students with children and/or other dependents, and veteran students), programmatic development, organizational management to support the success strategies, and supervision of student staff. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will administratively support the Director and Assistant Director with major office events and daily office functions. This position will primarily coordinate the Ram Kidz Village (RKV) Program and lead parent & family programming.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field, by start date.
  • Demonstrated experience in office management.
  • A clear understanding of the issues, concerns, and needs of student parents and adult learners attending a four-year institution (identification as an adult learner is not required)
  • Needs to have led a team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs and concerns of adult learners (including student veterans and students with children).

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups including the adult learner, student parent/caregiver, and/or veteran populations.
  • Demonstrated direct experience working with or mentoring adult learners at the college level.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and assessing a wide variety of small and large scale programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with fiscal management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative to assist team in reaching desired goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and a solid understanding of and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences, especially from an intersectional lens.
  • Experience in seeking and obtaining external grants and funding.

  • Hiring RKV student staff annually.
  • Supervise and biannually evaluate RKV staff in assuring they know their responsibilities.
  • Overseeing management of volunteers.
  • Create, organize and deliver student staff development through trainings that include RKV procedures, customer service, diversity and inclusion, etc.
  • Monitoring RKV operations
  • Manage ~$45,000 budget

  • Help develop Student Parent focused programming throughout each semester such as workshops, brown bags lunch gatherings, professional development for student parents, as well as work towards creating a community of student parents.
  • Provide support and mentoring for adult learners, student veterans, student parents.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives to adult learners to determine needs, connect them with on- and off-campus resources, and provide proactive intervention as needed.
  • Assist ALVS staff in effectively executing programs such as Orientation, Ram Welcome, Tailgates, Winter Book Drive, Spring Reception, and others as assigned.
  • Advise and mentor leadership of student organizations as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments across campus to achieve mutual goals.
  • Develop and coordinate additional programs as assigned.
  • Participate in a team-based organizations, mentoring other staff as needed.
