Job Summary:

About Extension: UW-Madison's Division of Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts. The Natural Resources Institute is one of six Institutes in the Division of Extension.

About this Position: This position will support multiple projects in the Extension Natural Resources Institute, including the Conservation Professional Training Program and the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.

The Program Coordinator will:

  • Assist in grant proposal processes by identifying staff and resource needs and identifying opportunities to leverage existing resources and partnerships.
  • Assist with project implementation by identifying opportunities for improvement including leveraging resources and partnerships to address project needs.
  • Support grant reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate project logistics, timelines, resources and grant deliverables with project sub-teams.
  • Assist project staff in building and maintaining internal and external partnerships that advance Natural Resource Institute initiatives.

Please note: This is a 2-year project position. There is a possibility this position may become renewable after this initial 2-year period contingent on funding and department/program needs.

The preferred location for this position is either Madison, Green Bay, or Superior WI, but the location is flexible and will be based on programmatic needs, successful candidate's preferences, and availability of suitable space.

Responsibilities:

Organizes the development and delivery of outreach programs, including the responsibility for staffing. Assists with policy development and organizes resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.

  • 20% Directs the implementation of program policies and procedures
  • 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships to promote the outreach program
  • 20% Schedules and secures logistics and resources in support of an outreach program
  • 5% Schedules day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • 15% Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new outreach program development
  • 10% Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet project targets and milestones
  • 10% Establishes, monitors, and coordinates project budgets and budget reporting

  • Demonstrated experience working with and facilitating diverse partnerships, including federal and state agencies, local governments, nonprofits, and Native Nations
  • Demonstrated communication skills that contribute to positive and productive workplace relationships
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work
  • Experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds

Preferred:

  • Minimum two years' experience in project coordination and management
  • Prior work and/or demonstrated experience in grant application, management and reporting, especially with federal awards
  • Successful experience with project management and coordination tools and approaches
  • Demonstrated interest in natural resources, conservation, or environmental fields
  • Understanding of and experience working with Native Nations communities
Work Type:

Part Time: 50% - 60%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

Minimum $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications.
