Payroll Systems Analyst

The Payroll Systems Analyst reports to the Manager of Payroll. Under general supervision and within Brown University Health policies and procedures, supports a variety of payroll systems, interfaces, and reports. Oversees the interfaces between the payroll systems with the human resources system and other external customers/vendors, ensuring timely and accurate data is used for processing and reporting. May act as the liaison for the payroll department with Brown University Health IS or system vendors/consultants to ensure understanding of system changes or addressing various errors.
Responsibilities- Supports a variety of payroll systems and modules, including time and attendance, staff scheduling, general ledger, employee self-service portal, and payroll’s intranet page.
- May process Brown University Health payrolls utilizing automated time entry system and payroll system. Generates and distributes time entry and payroll reports to other users and departments.
- May create new reports or update existing reports as needed using established department guidelines with ad-hoc reporting tools under the direction of management.
- Researches, responds to, and corrects reported data inaccuracies or incidents within time entry and payroll systems interfaces, files, and reports.
- Receives input files from multiple sources like the HCM system (Infor Lifeworks), audits, and loads them to the payroll system, correcting errors as appropriate.
- Acts as the liaison between the payroll department and IS or system vendors/consultants to ensure understanding of system changes or addressing various errors.
- Documents internal procedures, correlates requirements to system functionality, and develops recommendations for changes to operating procedures for automated solutions.
- Participates in system testing activities, upgrade projects, and testing assignments, including quarterly payroll calculation patches from ADP.
- Coordinates payroll-related year-end activities to guarantee timely processing of internal procedures and submission of year-end documents.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work collaboratively in a high-pressure, high-volume team environment or individually.
- Maintains and enhances expertise and skills through participation in appropriate education and training opportunities related to payroll, human resources, and time entry systems.
- Handles confidential information pertaining to all employees with sensitivity and discretion.
- Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established Brown University Health policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Associate degree in computer sciences, business administration, related field, or equivalent work experience. American Payroll Association Certification (CPP or FPC) preferred.
- 3 to 5 years related experience with fully automated payroll systems, strong analytical skills, and ability to complete high-priority projects with time-sensitive deadlines. Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with automated payroll processing systems, preferably with ADP Enterprise and ADP v6 System and UKG/Kronos Workforce Dimensions application.
- Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various levels of personnel, and proficient oral and written communications.
- Normal office conditions with frequent use of a personal computer. Work performed remotely with occasional in-office days (remote hours 90 to 95% of time).
- Functions independently within a broad scope of department policies and practices; generally refers specific problems to Manager of Payroll.
