Job Summary:

This position will work with the College of Letters & Science (L&S) Honors Program and L&S Undergraduate Scholarships Program to assist staff with application review processes and associated administrative work. The L&S Honors Program provides a community and support for students who wish to engage in and achieve Honors within the College of Letters & Science and put into action the values of a liberal arts education. The L&S Undergraduate Scholarships Program provides support to both new and continuing undergraduate students intending to receive a degree from the College of Letters & Science. L&S Honors invites all students accepted into the College of Letters & Science to apply, which results in approximately 1,000 Honors admissions applications each year. The staff member in this role will participate in the holistic review of L&S Honors applications, which includes two essays and applicant profile, by reading, ranking, and recommending admissions for first-year students to the L&S Honors Program. The L&S Undergraduate Scholarships program manages several independent processes each spring involving the review and management of over 1,000 student records. This position will set up, participate in, and support scholarship review committees, assist with managing processes, communicate statuses, and set up award information in the scholarship system (WiSH). The position responsibilities also include communicating with Honors and Scholarship stakeholders and managing application data in both WiSH and Excel.

Responsibilities:
  • 40% Conducts comprehensive application review and selection for assigned programs
  • 40% Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Assist with software set-up, award/application management, and communication activities

Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills
Superb organizational skills
Strong reading comprehension and ability to assess candidate materials using defined criteria
Intermediate competency working with spreadsheets and ability to learn new technology
Ability to work on a variety of tasks confidently and skillfully
Ability to work both independently and under supervision
Maintain integrity of data and ensure confidentiality

Work Schedule:

Work schedule will fall between 7:45am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Final schedule to be determined in consultation with supervisor for this position.

Work Type:

Part Time: 50%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 4 month appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $20.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $20.00/hour to $26.00/hour depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.

Additional Information:

This position will work in-person, on site most of the time. Some remote work may be possible after initial training and onboarding. This position(s) is a temporary position that will end in May 2025.
