ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK - CORPORATE – FAYETTEVILLE, NC

Employment Type: Full-time/Non-exempt/Hourly

Starting Hourly Rate: $36,000 - $39,000

Amount of Travel Required: 10%

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm, some nights and weekends

OVERVIEW OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Compiles and maintains accounts payable records by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Receives all vouchers or requests for payment. Reviews for thoroughness, accuracy, and processes for appropriate signatures.
  • Receives, verifies, and codes all invoices. Runs tapes on all invoices.
  • Prepares accounts payable checks and disbursement vouchers for payment of accounts.
  • Prepares and submits ACH/EFT payments to a banking institution.
  • Processes all VOID checks/ACH/EFT payments.
  • Prepares and verifies for accuracy annual vendor 1099 tax forms.
  • Verifies daily deposits.
  • Responds to vendor inquiries.
  • Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
  • Prepares analysis of accounts as required.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with agency policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school) in the area of Business or Accounting. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with two years’ work experience would be preferred.

Experience: One to two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • Employee must be sufficiently computer literate to learn agency software within 60 days of employment.
Certificates & Licenses

No certifications or licenses are required for this position.

Other Requirements
  • Employee must have good math skills, able to calculate figures and amounts.
  • A working knowledge of modern accounting practices and principles is essential to this position.
  • Employee must also be proficient in computerized accounting methods and able to operate a 10-key calculator.
