Communications Specialist

Occupational Summary:
The Duke Chapel Communications Specialist presents the Chapel's mission, ministry and programs to its constituents through visual media. This position reports to the Chapel's Communications Manager as part of the Chapel's Administrative team, working closely with the Music and Ministry teams. The Communications Specialist will design, layout, and coordinate the publication of digital and print materials for the Chapel. The position will also contribute to new communications projects, from creative concept to implementation and review.
Work Performed:
In collaboration with colleagues and student workers, design graphics, posters, brochures, booklets and other visual materials - print and online:
- to represent various Chapel programs, events and themes.
- Coordinate print projects from design to edits to materials to proofs to printing.
- Review and edit visual materials to see that they are consistent with the Chapel's and University's standards and tone.
- Assist in promoting and documenting Chapel events through photography and writing.
- Assist in developing content for the Chapel's website, email newsletters, magazine and social media.
- Contribute to the regular live webcasts of Chapel services and events through pre-production and post-production tasks, as well as some live video production.
- Assist in the administration of Chapel communications projects, and serve on some ad hoc Chapel committees related to design and communication.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Work requires communication and marketing skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience: Work generally requires one-year related experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions or public relations. OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
