We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join our team. The Purchasing Assistant will support the sourcing, purchasing, and managing of materials, parts, and services required for our aerospace projects. This role ensures timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality components while maintaining compliance with industry-specific regulations.

The Purchasing Assistant plays a key role in coordinating with suppliers, monitoring inventory levels, and managing purchase orders under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager. You’ll work with a collaborative team, manage your work to meet deadlines and quality standards, and enjoy a career in the exciting aerospace industry.

Your Job Responsibilities:
Purchase Order Creation:

  • Assist in preparing accurate purchase orders (POs) for raw materials, parts, and services.
  • Monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and address any discrepancies.

Supplier Coordination:

  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm orders, and delivery schedules, and resolve any issues.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers.
  • Assist in qualifying new suppliers based on their ability to meet the company’s goals.
  • Help evaluate supplier performance by tracking delivery times, quality, and reliability.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Collaborate with shop floor teams to understand material needs.

Cost Control:

  • Help analyze supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness.
  • Work with the finance department to resolve any invoicing discrepancies.

Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with the quality assurance department to address any concerns.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all purchasing activities.

Teamwork:

  • Work closely with all teams to understand material needs and provide status updates.
  • Assist in preparing purchasing reports, supplier reports, and inventory status updates
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in coordinating procurement to meet deadlines and schedules.

Skills you’ll use:

Education: High school diploma or GED. Experience in purchasing and inventory management is ideal.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience working with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, MS365).
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and industry standards (AS9100).

Problem-Solving:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address delays, inventory shortages, or product quality concerns.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate supplier quotes, compare pricing, and assess performance.

Attention to Detail:

  • High level of accuracy in processing purchase orders, managing inventory, and maintaining records.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies in pricing, delivery, or product quality and address them promptly.

Time Management:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining detailed records.

Communication:

  • Strong communication skills to interact with suppliers and internal team members.

Job Details:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Full-time, 8 hour day shift
  • Work location: In person, Warren MI
  • Works in an office setting with frequent time spent in the production areas to coordinate material deliveries and inventory management.
