Checkout Coordinator

The Checkout Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless transition for patients at the end of their visit. This position is responsible for collecting patient payments, scheduling follow-up appointments and procedures, and providing clear explanations of the services ordered during the visit. The ideal candidate will have experience with eClinicalWorks EMR and proficiency in Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Payments:
- Collect and process patient payments accurately and efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage and inform patients about their financial responsibilities.
- Appointment Scheduling:
- Schedule all follow-up appointments and procedures ordered by healthcare providers.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure appointments align with provider availability.
- Patient Communication:
- Explain procedures, treatments, and follow-up care to patients, ensuring they understand what has been ordered during their visit.
- Address any questions or concerns patients may have regarding their care and appointments.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the eClinicalWorks EMR system.
- Ensure all patient information is confidential and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other team members to ensure a cohesive patient experience.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and patient satisfaction.
- Reporting:
- Utilize Excel to create reports and track patient payments, appointments, and other relevant metrics.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare administrative role.
- Proficient in eClinicalWorks EMR and Microsoft Excel.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
- Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- The Checkout Coordinator will work in a clinical setting, interacting directly with patients and healthcare professionals.
