A Scale Master Associate will typically assist the Scale Master to maintain scales and capture the weight of trucks entering and exiting the recycling area. The captured vehicle weights are used not only to track the amount of waste entering the facility, but to bill the shipper for using the facility. Expected to provide effective and courteous customer service and sales support to our clients.

 

JOB DUTIES

Administrative –

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Daily attendance and timeliness are vital to this position:

  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Punctuality is an essential function of this position.
  • Ability to communicate with the public and to provide excellent customer service in a professional manner.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry. Process daily sales-cash and credit card payments, prepare and record daily deposits and balance tickets at the end of the day. Turn in daily receipts and payments to management.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to accurately process and document payments
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Enter necessary information into the Encore system for each truck entering or exiting the site.
  • Answer and direct calls, provide information, including service information, as appropriate.
  • Perform a variety of administrative responsibilities including open/close of office, prepare cash drawer, balance end of day sales tickets, complete end of day reports, complete office checks daily and create and maintain all files.
  • Handle all administrative responsibilities and projects as assigned and support/back up Scale Master.
  • Participate in Saturday schedule rotation.

Sales –

  • Cultivate customer relationships with new customers and build/maintain existing relationships by assisting those customers.
  • Recognize the needs of each customer and suggest appropriate service.
  • Offer and provide product information and pricing to customers after assessing needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date service knowledge and pricing.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position is supervised by the Director of Solid Waste Development

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be computer software proficient including experience with MS OFFICE. (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Must have strong mathematical and attention to detail skills.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Able to work in a fast-passed setting.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy

· Opening or Closing the Scale Gate

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, leaning, bending, climb steps, speaking, seeing, and using hands/fingers.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· This job is stationed in a trailer located between the inbound and outbound scales

· The work area tends to get dusty

· There is daily interaction with the elements when servicing customers through the inbound and out bound windows.

 

HOURS

11-hour day includes ½ hour unpaid meal break

Alternating Saturdays – 6 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Overtime paid after 40 hours worked each week
