Automation / Mechatronics Specialist

We are a rapidly growing food manufacturer specializing in ready-to-eat meals, salads, and side dishes. As we continue to expand into a new facility, we are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer/Automation Specialist to enhance our production capabilities through advanced automation and control systems. This full-time position is for the first shift, starting at 7:30 AM and ending around 5:00 PM. Our ideal candidate is someone who can lead the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automated systems while ensuring the seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and control components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and troubleshoot automated systems, including Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and robotics.
- Lead the integration and configuration of new machinery, including automation controls and mechanical systems.
- Monitor and optimize production processes by implementing automation solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and quality.
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, including schematics, programming logic, and process control charts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of automation equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety standards.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on automated systems to improve machine performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with the production and maintenance teams to provide training on new and existing automated systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead automation projects to optimize workflow and reduce manual intervention.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards.
- Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs using ladder logic and structured text.
- Experience with VFDs, Servo Motors, and HMI development and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of mechatronic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and their integration with automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex automation and mechanical issues.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly found in maintenance shops.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in hot or cold environments.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work on ladders or in tight spaces.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
