Penndel Mental Health Center is a non profit community based mental health agency located in Langhorne. We are seeking candidates to join our team of professionals who are passionate about working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, intellectual disability, or drug and alcohol addiction. Intake Therapist is a full time position to include benefits, paid time off, continuing education reimbursement, and retirement plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performs evaluation and assessment activities, which includes understanding of DSM-IV diagnoses, treatment planning, input of various clinical and non-clinical information into electronic medical record, screenings, gathering of history, determination of level of care, referral to appropriate level of care, provisional diagnosing, narrative assessment, Releases of Information, etc. in a timely fashion.

  • Provides for necessary follow-up support services for new admissions who are at risk.

  • Assesses clients’ needs, provides acute intervention and/or makes referrals to internal or external resources. Including the provision of higher levels of care for COD clients. Communicates with all involved parties including insurance companies, hospital admissions personnel, PMHC clinical and support staff and appropriate family members as needed.

  • Collects data and comprises reports of specific crisis and intake data as assigned.

  • Coordinates the referral of all involuntary committed clients to outpatient and Partial Hospital services. Arranges for intake appointments as needed, communicates commitment orders to involved clinicians/departments. Ensures that all necessary paperwork and documentation are forwarded to appropriate staff.

  • Prepares progress notes and/or crisis intervention notes and documents all client telephonic/face-to-face contacts, as well as consults with other clinicians and caregivers. Maintains all other clinical records as required

This position requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree and 2 years experience in the mental health field with SPMI consumers, and consumers with co-occurring disorders. Provides acute and liaison counseling services for consumers throughout Penndel Mental Health Center’s service delivery system.
