Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist will be the knowledge expert for customer compliance requirements related to product labeling, shipping, and supply chain. This individual will work closely with the Sales, Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain, and Shipping teams to ensure compliance during all aspects of the product life cycle (including raw materials).

 

Position Description

  • Understand the customer requirements and regulations and be able to apply and effectively communicate them to Production, Quality, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Shipping Team.
  • Seek feedback from Sales team on any proposed rules and regulations.
  • Disseminate state/local regulatory bulletins, customer requirements, updates and notices and prepare communication on how the changes affect operations. Lead the process as needed to implement the
  • changes.
  • Under direction of Continuous Improvement, provide regulatory guidance and ongoing regulatory compliance support in relation to new product development, and packaging and labeling.
  • Maintain regular dialog with the Quality Compliance team, Shipping, Supply Chain, PD, and Product Brand & Packaging teamsand provide updates to upper management.
  • Liaison with Quality, Production and Shipping team on completion of monthly/quarterly/annual regulatory compliance audit.
  • Assist the engineering change process with submissions of engineering change requests and develop SOP for review and approval.
  • Become a proficient user of the company's document control system.
  • Assist with special projects as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Approval

The Executive Team will be involved in all hires. Team determines need, Human Resources will facilitate the process and select candidates, Controller will verify budget for the position. The position’s direct manager will also be part of the interviewing and decision-making process as well as a possible peer.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years manufacturing compliance experience required.
  • Knowledge of compliance in bedding industry preferred.
  • Project management skills to see tasks through to completion.
  • Good communication abilities, both written and oral
  • Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Must be able to work quickly and under pressure to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Must have excellent logic abilities and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to read and understand complex customer product requirements
  • Must work well with others across a spectrum of job roles
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office

Training Required for Position/ To be determined

Inside Customers: Sales Team, Operations Team, Product Development, Marketing Team, Supply Chain, and Shipping team

Outside Customers: Customers, vendors, suppliers

Partners: Sales Team, Finance Team, HR, Operations Team, Product Development and Marketing Teams

Work Environment: Works mostly in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility with midlevel safety/health hazard potential. Walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and frequent computer usage. Will spend significant time out of the office on the factory floor. Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Position Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. M – F, or as customer needs require
