Qualifications

· A minimum of 4 years of heavy civil construction experience

· Have experience with construction layout utilizing GPS equipment

· Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

· Review plans, specifications and estimate of projects prior to project kickoff. Review key items, means & methods and safety issues with estimator

· Mark out and call in DigSafes, and maintain a file so that the DigSafe tickets can be tracked and kept current

· Perform project layout including checking and establishing control points, staking out key items of a project, and compiling as-built data

· Setup dozers, excavators and GPS rovers with current layout files/models

· Provide layout assistance to crews

· Track use of aggregate materials on a project and compare to estimate

· Review upcoming material needs (pipe, structures, etc.) for projects and work with PM to make sure materials are on site and ready for use. Upcoming material needs should be discussed during weekly scheduling meetings.

· Assist crews with establishing missing grading information

· Provide technical assistance to foreman on means & methods to help assure efficient construction processes

· Monitor project safety by working with the foreman to identify high-risk activities and planning to prioritize safety during the identified activities

· Facilitate toolbox talks with crews

· Assist foreman/crews in interpreting design/drawings that are complicated or lacking information. Work with PM and/or design engineer for clarity as needed

· Monitor actual productions/costs vs budgeted productions/cost and help facilitate that daily production quantities are being entered in HJ time cards

· May supervise, direct, and mentor project staff to ensure individual development and that project standards are met.

· Assist in representing the company during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication.

· Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations

· Develop as-built drawings for project closeouts for review by the project manager

· Help with quantity takeoffs for estimating as needed

· Identify and help facilitate areas of training for crew

· Monitor pit floor elevations, provide end of fiscal year bank and stockpile quantities

· Normal work hours are 6:30am to 4:00pm.
