Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement and Materials Manager to oversee our company's sourcing, inventory and supply chain processes. This role involves managing purchasing activities, establishing supplier relationships, and ensuring that procurement operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with company objectives. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of supply chain management, contract negotiations, and strategic sourcing. This position is in person and is located in Pell City, Alabama.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create sound, cost-effective strategies for purchasing materials used in the business.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors.
  • Evaluating spending operations and seeking ways to improve the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries.
  • Manage inventories and month end inventory process.
  • Use computer programs including but not limited to Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office Programs.
  • To ensure best possible prices are attained and on time deliveries are ensured.
  • Regularly communicating with management and other team members regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production.
  • Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement.
  • Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
  • Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Available to deal with daily issues during normal business hours, odd or extra hours will be required as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Education and Training: A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or professional certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of previous experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related role is essential.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills are crucial for success in this role.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel is required.
