Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Automation Execution Engineer to join our automotive manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated systems on the production floor. This position requires expertise in robotics, PLC programming, automated processes, and the development of automation systems from concept through plant execution. Experience with AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), and sequencing is highly valued to drive efficiency, quality, and safety in our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Implementation: Design, program, and implement automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and AMR/AGV systems, to meet production and sequencing goals.
  • Cradle-to-Grave Development: Lead the full lifecycle of automation projects, from initial concept and design through plant execution, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
  • Sequencing Expertise: Develop and optimize automated sequencing processes to improve material flow, cycle time, and production reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, and AGVs/AMRs, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal efficiency.
  • System Optimization: Analyze existing automation processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in cycle time, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaboration: Partner with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of automated equipment.
  • Robotics Programming: Program, configure, and troubleshoot industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) for welding, material handling, assembly, and sequencing applications.
  • PLC Development: Develop and modify PLC programs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) to support automation processes, system upgrades, and equipment changes.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Lead testing, validation, and commissioning of automated systems to meet production requirements and specifications.
  • AMR/AGV Integration: Implement and optimize Autonomous Mobile Robots and Automated Guided Vehicle systems to enhance material movement and process efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, including system layouts, schematics, programming changes, and project updates.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all automated systems comply with safety standards and company guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive sector.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
  • Experience implementing and optimizing AMR and AGV systems.
  • Strong understanding of sequencing processes and automated material flow.
  • Proven ability to execute automation projects from concept through commissioning (cradle-to-grave).
  • Expertise in industrial networks, sensors, drives, and vision systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, and software automation systems.

Software:

  • Proficiency with automation design tools, simulation software, and plant execution systems.

Problem-Solving:

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex automation challenges in fast-paced environments.

Communication:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive manufacturing processes such as welding, assembly, sequencing, or material handling.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, MES systems, and data analytics.
