Job Announcement: Senior Wildlife Biologist Position

Huffman-Broadway Group, Inc., is seeking to fill a senior wildlife biologist position at our San Rafael, California office. Work will focus on biological assessment work associated with small- and large-scale utility scale renewable energy projects, distribution/fulfillment and data center development projects, residential and commercial development projects, mitigation plan development, land management, and environmental permitting.

We are looking for a master’s degree level professional scientist who is a motivated self-starter with an outgoing personality that can work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary project team. The job requires a professional having excellent writing, oral communication, presentation, organizational, and adaptive management skills. Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to prepare proposals and manage budgets and work scope items is also necessary for this job.

Duties Include:

· Work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team to prepare products for clients.

· Travel to project sites or meetings with extended overnight stays.

· Perform on-site biological surveys to identify habitat types and plant and animal species present and potentially present.

· Collect project data using GPS equipment and menu driven data collection apps.

· Perform assessments of field survey data including interpretation of geospatial data developed by our GIS team members.

· Perform assessments of impacts based on field survey information and review of project plans.

· Prepare technical reports or biological specific sections thereof.

· Prepare Corps of Engineer, state water quality authority, and state fish and wildlife authority permit applications and supporting documentation.

· Prepare biological sections for CEQA (or non-California equivalent) and NEPA documents.

· Coordinate with clients, client subconsultants, our company subconsultants.

· Contribute to business development.

· Maintain daily record of time worked on projects.

· Manage budgets and schedules with on cost/on schedule delivery.

· Other duties as assigned to support the overall company’s mission.

 

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

· Master’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field.

· 5 years professional experience (preference in filling position given to California experience).

· Demonstrated ability to prepare high quality technical documents on a timely basis.

· Demonstrated ability to work well with others.

· Outgoing personality.

· Ability to work outdoors safely in rain, heat, cold, dust, wind, wet terrain, and uneven terrain.

· Physical abilities: climb stairs without assistance, lift 25 pounds, and carry a 25-pound backpack for 300 yards.

· Valid driver’s license and passport.
