Dual Language Learner Resource Teacher

Duties
The DLL Resource Teacher:
- Conducts planning activities and completes required documentation related to child and family services and overall program needs
- Provides support and assistance to Head Start staff in the implementation of education, health, nutrition, transportation and family services
- Provides interpretation services for children and families - conducting home visits, parent conferences, phone calls, medical appointments, and large-group parent meetings
- Conducts child testing and assessments, as well as classroom activities to integrate DLL children into the Head Start program.
- Translates documents, newsletters, notes, reports, etc. from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
- Communicates, coordinates, and integrates effectively with staff, parents, and community representatives to meet overall program goals for children and family service delivery
- Travels regularly to the five (5) Head Start centers throughout Knoxville, often carrying/hauling classroom and assessment materials
Requirements
- Bilingual - Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral
- B.S. in Early Childhood Education or related field, transcript required
- Ability to consecutively and simultaneously interpret
- Excellent Communication Skills in English and Spanish
- Criminal background check (fingerprint, vulnerable person's registry, etc.)
- Valid Driver’s License and car for work related travel
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- At least 25 years of age (in order to obtain CDL)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Legally eligible to work in the US
