Our client, a leading global manufacturer, has an immediate need for an Automation Controls Engineer to join their team to gear up for new business expected in 2025.

Areas of focus:

- Produce complete and complex automation systems per standard of automation and electrical engineering to propose the best valued solution respecting the functional specification and the best cost/performance ratio.

- Produce setup/installation/commissioning instructions.

- Know how to configure and start individual automation components and program the system.

- Design a complete automation system architecture.

- Can and able to configure and start automation system – component, controller, drive, network and interface with Level 2 – supervisory system.

- Create/Edit/Modify of PLC program autonomously.

- Create/Edit/Modify of HMI Program autonomously.

- Performed a Risk Safety Analysis during design, installation and commissioning.

- Conduct Design review with expert to demonstrate the robustness and optimization of proposed solution.

- Configure a PID of a servo loop for feedback control system.

- Configure and implement Level 1 control system integrated with Level 2 supervisory system.

- Able to do cycle simulation and offline programming i.e. robot.

- Design and validate the Ethernet network security deployed on system with expert.

- Able to configure and start a slave system, motion, non-speed regulation with the main system.

 

Must haves for the position:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience with 4 or more years of Engineering Experience is required.

- Experience with PLC programming standards & programming software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text and HMI configuration, programming and communication with specific experience with Rockwell platforms is a must have; experience with Siemens platforms is a plus.

 

Pluses for the position:

- Vision System configuration and interface for width measurement applications and defect detection applications is preferred, but not required. Specific experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is a plus.

- Robotic experience, configuration or knowledge is preferred, but not required. Specific experience with Fanuc, ABB is a plus.

- Experienced with electrical design standards and able to complete controls systems designs using standard CAD design tools. SEE Electrical is the current tool; exposure to SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical may make the transition easier.

- Experienced with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies. Specific experience with Rockwell is a must have; Siemens and Control Techniques experience is a plus.

- Experienced with controls systems network interfaces and various protocols for communications between devices including computer system databases.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential.
