You will delegate projects to our tax preparation staff and review each filing to ensure accuracy and compliance with all relevant Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, exceptional leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage tasks efficiently in a flexible work environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing complex returns, while reviewing staff submissions for their tax preparations.
- Follow up with state and federal correspondence directed at clients, such as Collection Letters, Audits, and Offer In Compromise (OIC)
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize tax positions for our clients
- Monitor and research changes in tax laws, providing recommendations and updates to the leadership team
- Conduct quality reviews of tax filings and supporting documentation prepared by tax preparers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for team members, providing clear instructions, feedback, and training as needed
- Ensure accurate tax forecasts, budgeting, and reporting for leadership.
- Cultivate a collaborative and efficient team environment while maintaining high performance standards
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of recent experience in tax management and tax preparation
- Extensive knowledge of S Corp (1120S) returns
- Ability to analyze financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness
- Drake Software knowledge is preferred but not mandatory
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA)
- Great organizational skills, including time management and strategic thinking
- Excellent written/verbal skills and effective communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timely follow-up are essential
