Job summary


The Product Specialist acts as the business interface between Marketing, Customer
Service, and the Manufacturing Organizations. This includes, but is not limited to:
● Know all abrasive products in and out by testing them
● Coordination of new product development and introductions.
● Abrasive documentation.
● Forecasting and capacity planning with manufacturing.
● Abrasive Product training of Customer Relations and all Sales Channels.
● Testing and validating returned products
● Coordination with other plants about quality issues
● Documentation for quality issues
● Quality inspections for product returns
● Documentation of samples going out
● Documentation and approval for product set up
Training
Knowledge of product lines will come, we take the time to train you.
● Reading and understanding the products in the catalog
● Course Product training (happens monthly)
● Hands on training where you test product to understand them
● Understanding reports to know how to better market items
● Team videos and social media post to get you more comfortable in social
marketing
● Assistance in training a class

1) Manage and support the abrasive line, in all activities related, but not limited
to Marketing, Customer Service, Product Support/Training, and
Manufacturing.
2) Work closely with the commercial departments to create new product ideas
and prioritize the product development portfolio.
3) Define market, market and product-related strategy, and product positioning
as well as coordinate pricing information for the products with the objective
to maximize the product line’s profitability.
4) Develop and monitor financial and non-financial metrics to assess overall
health of the product line.
5) Participate actively in the Product/Business team process, including
development of business plans in the assigned markets in alignment with the
global strategy for the product lines.
6) Provide capacity planning and Raw Material forecasts to
Manufacturing/Contract manufacturing organizations.
7) Assist Marketing and/or Customer Relations in preparation of quotations and
contracts.
8) Assist in creation of value propositions and training of sales force.
9) Work with Marketing/Advertising and Technical groups to develop
supporting literature.

10) Coordinate between Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing, for the release
of new products.
11) Develop the training plans for the abrasive line and the presentation of
those plans to Sales, Commercial Marketing, and Customer Relations.

● Proven ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient,
focused manner.
● Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
● Proficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint).
● Comfortable to make presentations to all levels of the organization.
● Fluent in English, both written and oral.
● Understanding of, and ability to interpret financial data
● Experience in product introduction, analysis, and development of
product/market strategies.
● Experience with forecasting and forecasting systems.
● Creation and maintenance of customer-related literature.
● Team Player: Ability to work within a team environment.
● Leadership skills, including ability to effectively present ideas and opinions
to gain understanding consensus, and support across multi-faceted teams.
● Strong customer-focused orientation.
● Willingness to share ideas.
