Construction Office Engineer Position - Santa Monica, CA

Position: Full-Time, Construction Office Engineer
Location: Santa Monica, CA

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Construction Office Engineer with a focus on Estimating in heavy civil construction. This role involves a range of responsibilities from material estimation to procurement and office management, aimed at supporting project execution from pre-bid to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating (Heavy-Civil Focus):

  • Perform material take-offs and quantity calculations to ensure accurate project estimates.
  • Develop and manage subcontractor bid packages for various scopes, including landscape/irrigation, concrete, and electrical.
  • Receive, analyze, and compare quotes from vendors and subcontractors to determine the most cost-effective options.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and client expectations.
  • Assist in closing bids by preparing final documentation and ensuring all estimates are complete and accurate.

Office Engineering:

  • Source and obtain material and supplies quotes for field teams to ensure timely project execution.
  • Draft and issue Purchase Orders (POs) for approved materials, supplies, and services.
  • Review and enter invoices accurately into QuickBooks, ensuring timely payments and up-to-date financial records.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for Dig Alerts, project documentation, regulatory notices, and office records to support compliance and efficient operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BS) or related field.
  • Experience with estimating and office engineering in a heavy-civil construction environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other relevant software.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
