Hartford, United States Rollings Funeral Service Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Funeral Directors and staff work closely with families, clergy, synagogues, cemeteries, the vault company, and other associates to facilitate meaningful, traditional funeral services. According to Jewish custom, this often means coordinating services on very short notice which makes for a high-paced and fluid working environment.

A successful candidate must be able to adapt to these unique pressures, as well as communicate effectively and foster and manage relationships with associates and families. Other job aspects include shared duties such as making removals, completing and running paperwork, and caring for the building and vehicle fleet. Be aware that this job will include no wakes/calling hours, and very little time in the prep room, as embalming is not typical.

Therefore, hours and scheduling allow for a great work-life balance.

Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with families to explain our services and arrange funeral plans
  • Conduct funerals
  • Transfer decedents
  • Ensure all files and paperwork are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with laws and regulations
  • Work on-call and first call as needed
  • Performing other related tasks and duties

Requirements:

  • CT Funeral Directors or Embalmers License or ability to reciprocate from another state OR Actively enrolled in funeral school with the ability to acquire an Apprentice License
  • Familiarity with Jewish funeral customs.

Sign on bonus $10,000.00.

Relocation cost considered.

  • Benefits: Competitive salary
  • Health, life, dental, vision, and disability insurance availability
  • Paid vacation, holiday, and sick days
  • Great work life balance. No calling hours, weekends only urgent if needed.
  • Rotating scheduled weekends
  • Professional licensing fees paid as well as CEUs
