Job Title: Welder
Employment Type: Full-Time, Regular
Shift / Hours:

  • Standard Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
  • Extended Shift: 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
  • Note: Candidates must be open to working up to 10-hour shifts, with potential overtime on Saturdays. Typical workweeks are around 50 hours.

Location: Ottawa, KS
Hourly Rate: $21/hour

About the Role

We’re seeking a skilled Welder to join a leading company in the construction and fabrication industry. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects in the commercial building, bridge, and industrial sectors. You’ll use advanced welding techniques to deliver exceptional results while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations in various positions (ground level, above ground, below ground) using techniques such as FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and SAW.
  • Ensure weld quality aligns with industry standards, including AWS D1.1 and AISC requirements.
  • Prepare materials for welding by grinding, chipping, or other finishing methods.
  • Weld structural materials (e.g., plates, sheets, girders, tanks) within precise heat and tolerance standards.
  • Conduct gouging and scarfing tasks as required.
  • Operate cranes to move materials safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in welding techniques: FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and SAW.
  • Experience welding various metals, including steel and aluminum.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
  • A minimum of 12 months of stable work experience in structural welding.
  • Successful completion of required weld tests in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards.
  • High school diploma or GED.
