Job Description

As a Blaster, you will be responsible for blasting paint off of railcars, including hopper and tank cars. This role involves using a steel grit blast, not sandblasting. The blast hose is 1.5 inches wide and operates at 120 lbs of pressure. You must be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights, and be able to climb ladders to complete work on the top of railcars. Fall protection training, a harness, and a tie-off will be provided for working on the top of railcars. You must also be willing to complete a respirator fit test within the first two weeks of employment and wear a respirator when working in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Blast paint off railcars using steel grit blast.
• Operate a blast hose with 1.5 inches width and 120 lbs of pressure.
• Work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Climb ladders to access the top of railcars.
• Complete fall protection training and use provided safety equipment.
• Complete a respirator fit test and wear a respirator as required.

Essential Skills

• Ability to work at heights.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection.
• Mechanically inclined.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior blast experience helpful but not required.
• Experience in industrial environments, sanding, blasting, and paint prep.
• Experience in production, auto body, general labor, and automotive repair.
