USAging is the national association representing and supporting the network of Area Agencies on Aging and advocating for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs. Our members help older adults and people with disabilities throughout the United States live with optimal health, well-being, independence and dignity in their homes and communities.


As the local leaders on aging well at home our members develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of home and community-based services, including information and referral/assistance, case management, home-delivered and congregate meals, in-home services, caregiver supports, transportation, evidence-based health and wellness programs, long-term care ombudsman programs and more.


USAging is dedicated to supporting the success of our members in supporting the nation's growing population of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers through advancing public policy, sparking innovation, strengthening the capacity of our members, raising their visibility and working to drive excellence in the fields of aging and home and community-based services.


Job Summary

The Research Associate is a key supportive player to critical program areas at USAging on housing, homelessness, and access to supportive services for older adults. The position offers a great opportunity to enhance programmatic research, communications, and project management skills for a mission-driven membership association. The ideal candidate will be an efficient time manager who is organized, resourceful and detail oriented. Strong skills in communications, qualitative analyses and planning are a must.


Job Title: Research Associate

Reports to: Director, Housing and Services

Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist with the development and preparation of materials, newsletter articles, research papers, PowerPoint presentations, blog posts, social media posts, website content and other written products.

· Conduct program research, including but not limited to online surveys, key informant interviews, and evaluation.

· Help maintain ongoing communications with partners and members.

· Assist with planning and execution of in-person and virtual events (e.g., conferences and webinars), taking responsibility for the effective use of support technology and managing logistics.

· Analyze and synthesize data.

· Provide administrative support for the team by scheduling and assisting with correspondence.

· Attend meetings and prepare summaries.

· Organize and maintain project materials.

· Support other work as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree required, with one to two years of relevant professional experience, Master's Degree preferred, including experience working to support team functions

· Qualitative research and data analysis skills; ability to present data effectively using graphs, charts and other formats

· Self-starter with proven organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

· Excellent attention to detail and deadlines and consistent follow-through

· Experience with Survey Monkey or other survey platforms, project management (e.g., Asana), and webinar/communications broadcast platforms is preferred

· Familiarity with social media, newsletter, blog and website platforms

· Strong interpersonal skills that enhance a work environment that is collegial and creative

· Flexibility and an ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

· Ability and willingness to travel as needed

· Must have an all-hands-on-deck attitude and a willingness to pitch in when needed

· Passion for USAging's mission of helping older adults age in place and maintain their health and independence for as long as possible


WORK HOURS AND LOCATION

This full-time position is based in USAging's Washington, DC, office. USAging will consider candidates outside of the Washington, DC area. The successful candidate will also be able to occasionally travel to member conferences and always attend the USAging Annual Conference and Tradeshow each summer for up to six days.
