Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist with extensive experience in Vertical Mill Turn operations. This position involves working on 2nd Shift assignments and requires expertise in setting up and operating NC/CNC machines, as well as conventional machines, to produce and repair various finished and semi-finished components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed part and tool drawings.
• Set up and operate a variety of NC/CNC machines, including multi-axis machines, HBM, VTL, lathe, grinding, and hone machine tools with related tools, computers, and attachments.
• Operate bridge cranes, jib cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.
• Follow established operational procedures to perform all machining functions, such as turning, milling, boring, grooving, chamfering, profiling, tapering, and tapping.
• Hand or machine blend and finish as required.
• Maintain drawing requirements, including length, diameters, perpendicularity, parallelism, and concentricity.
• Support development and routine machining operations associated with NC/CNC Mill/Turn, HBM, VTL, and Horizontal Lathe equipment.
• Assist in the startup of NC/CNC machines, including Mill/Turn, HBM, VTL, Horizontal Lathe, and multi-axis equipment.

Essential Skills

• High School graduate
• Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset
• Over 6 years of experience in CNC machining/setup/programming within a job shop type environment
• Ability to maintain acceptable quality and efficiency levels
• Effective communication skills
• Basic knowledge, skills, and abilities in assembly work and machining
• Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Fanuc Control, G code programming, and 5-axis machining
• Experience in a military or navy environment is a plus
