Job Description

As a Technician, you will work independently to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles including automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), vans, and forklifts. You will use advanced technology and programs to diagnose and repair vehicle failures, maintain documentation, and answer service calls. Join a team that maintains one of the largest fleets in North America and adhere to DOT regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs independently.
  • Utilize advanced technology and programs such as PM using voice application, Noregon diagnostics, Mitchell 1, Uptake predictive analytics, and TAAS.
  • Diagnose vehicle failures, disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary.
  • Maintain vehicle records and pre-trip checklists.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Adhere to DOT regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Must have your own basic hand tools
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months (training provided)
  • Pass DOT physical and DOT Road Test (if applicable)
  • Pass Forklift Driving Skills test (if applicable)
  • Mechanical knowledge of gas and diesel repair
  • Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems
  • Knowledge of internal combustible engines
  • Experience repairing forklifts (propane fuel, electrical, battery systems, hydraulic systems, pallet jacks)
  • Proficiency with computers (i-pad, desktop, hand-held, laptop, performing diagnostics, conducting preventive maintenance)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing standards (Mitchell 1, OEM Support tools, current standards, latest technology, electronics)
  • Experience driving trucks requiring a Class A or B CDL (road testing, driving in and out of repair shop)
  • Experience repairing heavy-duty equipment (class 8, 7, 6, medium duty trucks, brakes, tires, engines, liftgates, thermo king heater and refer units)
  • Experience repairing light trucks (EV trucks, gas-diesel trucks, vans, support vehicles)

Work Environment

Work in a newer fleet shop with three bays and a small maintenance team. There are two openings available: one from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM and another from 10:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00
