Accounting Assistant

• Tracks and reviews budget versus actual performance; collects, reviews and summarizes accounting data; performs purchasing and accounts payable functions; maintains and audits daily revenue process.
• Conducts pre-audits and post-audits by examining and verifying invoices, vouchers, records, funds and account numbers. Prepares purchase requisitions and invoices for payments and maintains pertinent records.
• Reviews, inputs and tracks procurements, purchase orders, change orders and contract requests.
• Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures under the guidance and supervision of assigned supervisor.
• Requires a fundamental knowledge of accounting processes, financial systems and spreadsheet applications is a must.
• The above duties may vary slightly based on the work area assigned.
Additional Duties:
• In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Minimum Qualifications
• An Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration preferred.
• A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Additional Requirements
• Requires a fundamental knowledge of accounting processes, financial systems and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to apply accounting procedures to practical applications, including analyzing and evaluating accounting data; follow detailed oral and written
instructions; and organize work and provide technical assistance to other personnel.

• Ability to research information, draw conclusions and make recommendations for improvement.
Ability to present ideas clearly both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires the incumbent to be sensitive to change and responsible to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Additional software experience in JD Edwards and Naviline Utilities System is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
• All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
• Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
