Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Health Information Management Technician in St Helena, California. In this role, you will be involved in various tasks related to managing health information, including processing medical records, conducting chart audits, and handling inquiries related to document imaging software and transcripts.

Responsibilities:
• Efficiently prepare medical records for scanning, following established procedures and productivity standards.
• Retrieve and reconcile all medical records from nursing units and ensure the optimal working condition of scanning equipment.
• Interview mothers to gather birth certificate information and input the details into the electronic birth certificate system.
• Check patient records for quality, remove difficult to scan documents, and notify nursing units of missing records.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding birth certificates, update supervisors on information, and process fetal death certificates.
• Maintain an organized file room, assist in purging of records by storage vendor, and retrieve charts from permanent files and off-site storage.
• Assist physicians with inquiries regarding chart deficiencies in accordance with pertinent rules.
• Review queued transcriptions and release them to PowerChart.
• Conduct chart audits, assist in deficiency analysis, and handle issues related to dictation.
• Ensure proper tracking of charts in chart tracking software.• Proficiency in various procedures relevant to health information management
• Demonstrated ability to maintain quality of work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in reviewing and auditing medical records
• Understanding of medical coverage policies and procedures
• Skilled in scanning documents and maintaining digital records
• Familiarity with check processing in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of consumer electronics used in health information management
• Ability to interpret and present data through charts and graphs
• Experience with paper-based medical records and their appropriate storage
• Ability to handle tasks related to missing invoices
• Experience in managing and maintaining patient records
• Understanding of release process in a healthcare setting
• Proficiency in transcription of medical dictations
• Ability to identify and rectify deficiencies in medical records
• Skilled in scanning documents for digital storage
• Knowledge of vaccines and vaccination records management
• Ability to manage dictation queues efficiently
• Adherence to productivity standards in a healthcare setting
• Experience in purging outdated or unnecessary medical records
