Clinical Team Supervisor-Early Intervention

The Clinical Team Supervisor is responsible to the Program Director for the direct supervision, guidance, and support of staff assigned to their Clinical Team. The Clinical Team Supervisor will meet regularly with the Program Director for supervision to process concerns and challenges related to this responsibility and keep the Program Director updated regarding significant events and issues affecting clients, service delivery, and staff performance.
This position is a combination of a direct care and administrative position. The direct care portion, which has an expectation of 21.25% productivity, follows the role of an Early Intervention Therapist. This is a full time, 5 day a week position.
PROFESSIONAL STAFF ROLES:
Supervision/Leadership:
- Leads weekly team meetings.
- Reviews and edits team report writing/IFSPs. Gives appropriate feedback to staff to further staff development in this area.
- Participates in Orientation of all new staff members.
- Works with team to develop sense of cohesion, teamwork, team support.
- Works with team to improve ability to give and receive feedback.
- Provides supervision to team around processing case challenges and all aspects of the EI therapist position including service coordination, transitions, development of IFSPs, clinical issues and working with families. Arranges regularly scheduled supervision meetings with team members.
- Provides support for staff during Early Intervention Specialist Certification process.
- Assists team members with time management, productivity and scheduling.
- Uses computer technology for purposes of organization, communications, and scheduling.
Clinical Team:
- Attends and participates in clinical team meetings, raising issues of concern and participating in the problem-solving process.
- Contributes to the creation, review, and revision of program policies and procedures.
- Participates in the interviewing/hiring process.
Intake/Case Disposition:
- Handles intake process, sensitively and efficiently, including initial contact with family, describing Early Intervention services, conducting intake and communicating appropriate information to team members.
- Participates in weekly Case Disposition meetings, communicating information concisely and actively participating in the case assignment process.
- Arranges for interim contact with families during case assignment process, if necessary.
Service Delivery:
- When appropriate or necessary, takes on a service coordinator role, conducting home visits, providing developmental activities and family support.
- Participates as needed in parent and/or child groups.
- Participates as a member of the assessment team, providing one’s own clinical expertise and using the opportunity to support team members in the development of their assessment skills.
- Participates in IFSP development, sharing one’s clinical expertise, and supporting staff in the IFSP meeting process.
- Completes, in a timely manner, all relevant paperwork, including insurance, EICS, IFSP updates, time sheets and case notes.
Consultation/Collaboration/Outreach:
- Participates in the development of “Natural Environment” opportunities, and the medical/social service system.
- Has knowledge of, and the ability to access, community resources.
- Participates in the development and implementation of outreach activities, focusing on specific target populations.
- Participates as needed in offering presentations/workshops to community providers, parents, staff.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professionalism:
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings, in-services, and team meetings.
- Maintains appropriate professional boundaries; promotes client confidentiality; and exhibits flexibility, and teamwork.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and awareness of the diversity of families and staff (cultural, economic, educational, language).
- Communicates relevant information with supervisors and coworkers regarding daily work, schedule, and families.
- Maintains a positive approach by respecting and valuing contributions of coworkers, contributing to the improvement of the program, and demonstrating willingness to participate in special projects and initiatives.
- Accepts feedback on performance, appropriately handles differences of opinion, and communicates directly with others.
- Meets expected paperwork timelines, is prompt for meetings and home visits, and follows through on commitments in a timely manner.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently, managing to be flexible and creative when necessary.
Qualifications:
The Pentucket Area Early Intervention Program Clinical Team Supervisor will be an experienced Early Intervention Clinician with a strong knowledge of the spectrum of Early Intervention services available, of Early Intervention policies and procedures, and of Department of Public Health regulations and standards. Supervisory experience is beneficial.
