We are seeking a Medical Billing Lead to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. The role involves managing a team of medical billers, maintaining patient relationships, and ensuring the effective completion of a medical billing project. The employment opportunity is a short-term contract role.


Responsibilities:


  • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the company.
  • Support all third party insurance billing, reconciliation and follow up processes for all sites using Avatar (EMR) software.
  • Maintain insurance panels needed to increase insurance revenue throughout sites.
  • Work within the Avatar and other billing software as it relates to insurance guarantors and any health management organizations that maximizes efficiencies and revenues
  • Maintain and processes between all billable revenue streams. 
  • Communicate with clinical staff in support of a pre-authorization process using existing Avatar system throughout all behavioral health service sites.
  • Support administrative decisions, in conjunction with leadership, in relation to insurance process
  • Maintain oversight for fiscal management, performance improvement activities and compliance for all related insurance related billing processes being conducted by Temporary Billing Specialists
  • Train, supervise, evaluate and encourage Temporary staff who provide support.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. 
  • Generate standard reports and review each for accuracy and consistency with the Avatar system. 
  • Stay up to date with changes regarding regulations, best practices and available technologies in the insurance billing field. 
  • Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.


  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with 2-4 years of insurance billing experience. 
  • Familiar with the regulations and requirements for HIPAA and aware of the compliance requirements as enacted. Maintain and protect confidential information. 
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment and with managed care entities. 
  • Strong analytical skills and basic knowledge of third party insurance billing.  
  • Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, have the ability to work independently and work as part of a team. 
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively and productively work with people of very diverse economic, cultural and administrative backgrounds.
  • Must have the ability to effectively prioritize and implement a variety of concurrent and varying activities. 
  • Advanced knowledge of computers, especially Avatar related experience and electronic medical record experience. Advanced skill set in Excel, Access or other database spreadsheet.
