Job Description

We are currently hiring for 2nd and 3rd shift general production workers at our main facility. Candidates will use hand tools and a tape measure to follow work instructions and assemble various components of flooring and drop ceiling products. All lifting will be done as a team, but candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 30-35lbs on their own a handful of times per shift. There is also an opportunity to train on machinery once hired on.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and have working knowledge of all equipment and machinery within the Understructure department.
  • Position parts and monitor operations on equipment while producing product at established production standards.
  • Make minor setups to include changing plate sizes, and setups for various sized tubes and studs.
  • Inspect panels or parts to verify specifications meet quality standards while maintaining established production standards. Notify appropriate personnel of issues.
  • Complete production reporting and quality paperwork accurately as required.
  • Use banding equipment and hand-jacks to ensure proper movement or storage of product or material.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow established safety procedures.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
  • Maintain awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; report all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to interface with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. repetitively unassisted for an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dial indicator, and feeler gauges.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Machine operation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with micrometers and calipers is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment includes two primary facilities. The Annex is a very clean and up-to-date but loud space with about 15 employees working on the floor at a time, specializing in containment door assemblies. The Main facility is an older, larger space with about 40-60 employees per shift, also loud. The dress code requires long pants (no sweatpants), short sleeves (no sleeveless), and steel toe shoes. Metatarsal protection is required, but met-guards are provided to strap over steel toes. Shifts include 1st Shift from 6a-2:20p with about 1-2 hours of overtime per day, and 2nd Shift from 2p-10:20p with similar overtime.
