Position Overview:
As an NDT Level 2 Technician, your primary responsibility is to perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on various materials and components to detect defects, flaws, and discontinuities. You will conduct inspections using various NDT methods, interpret test results, and prepare detailed inspection reports. Your role involves ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. NDT Inspection:

    • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections using methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), radiographic testing (RT), or visual testing (VT).

    • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment and instruments according to established procedures and specifications.

    • Conduct inspections on materials, welds, components, and structures to detect surface and subsurface defects, flaws, or discontinuities.

  2. Data Interpretation and Analysis:

    • Interpret test results, evaluate indications, and determine the nature, size, and location of defects or anomalies.

    • Analyze inspection data, trends, and patterns to identify potential causes of defects and recommend corrective actions or further testing as needed.

    • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, observations, and recommendations for repair or rework.

  3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, regulations, and customer specifications (e.g., ASNT, ASTM, API, AWS).

    • Follow safety protocols, procedures, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment and minimize risks to personnel and equipment.

    • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing, internal audits, and corrective actions.

  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection activities, including equipment calibration, inspection results, and certification documentation.

    • Prepare clear and concise inspection reports, including annotated images, charts, and diagrams, to communicate findings to stakeholders.

    • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, customers, and other stakeholders on NDT-related matters.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional technical training or certification in NDT methods (preferred).

  • NDT Level 2 certification in one or more methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT, RT) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ASNT).

  • Proven experience as an NDT Level 2 Technician or similar role in non-destructive testing or quality inspection.

  • Knowledge of NDT techniques, equipment, and procedures, with proficiency in interpreting codes, standards, and specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to detect and evaluate defects and anomalies.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with project teams, customers, and inspectors.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry NDT equipment and materials, up to 50 pounds.

  • Stamina to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during inspections.

  • Visual acuity and depth perception for accurate interpretation of inspection results.

  • Manual dexterity for operating NDT equipment, manipulating probes, and conducting inspections.
