Robert Half is offering a contract for a long-term position in Santa Barbara, California, for a Human Resources Risk and Safety Administrator. The Safety & Compliance Coordinator will manage and oversee various safety, compliance, and administrative functions within our organization. This role ensures adherence to federal and state regulations, company safety policies, and effective administration of critical processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Process vehicle and equipment accident claims by coordinating with insurance carriers, legal authorities, supervisors, and Fleet Department.
  • Complete legal interrogatories and follow up on claims until resolution.
  • Maintain monthly accident data spreadsheets.
  • Investigate unreported accidents and manage related work orders.
  • Track insurance reimbursements for vehicle and property damage.
  • Submit workers’ compensation claims and provide employees with necessary forms.
  • Maintain injury reports, claim logs, and OSHA records.
  • Notify managers of work status updates.
  • Enter injuries into the HR database and maintain communication with injured employees to ensure a return to work.
  • Manage the CHP Employer Pull Notice Program by enrolling and terminating employees.
  • Review notices for violations and maintain motor vehicle record point count spreadsheets.
  • Notify employees and managers of any issues.
  • Monitor expiring DMV medical certificates and schedule exams.
  • Upload records and ensure compliance through regular audits of BIT books.
  • Perform pre-employment and annual Clearinghouse queries for Class A drivers.
  • Manage drug and alcohol testing programs and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Lead bimonthly OSH Committee meetings and distribute minutes.
  • Track safety-related actions and prepare monthly safety training materials.
  • Support biannual CPR/First Aid training.
  • Administer Safe Driver Awards and monitor certifications to ensure records remain current.
  • Maintain and replenish first aid kits.
  • Order safety equipment and audit Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS databases.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports accurately and efficiently.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with fleet safety or compliance management is a plus.
