Job Description: As a Paraprofessional, you will work closely with teachers and other educational staff to support students with diverse needs. Your role will involve assisting with classroom management, providing individualized support, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering instructional activities and adapting materials to meet the needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with varying abilities and needs, including those with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and support students in developing social and academic skills.
  • Monitor and document student progress, municating observations and concerns with teachers and other staff members.
  • Support students during daily activities, including transitions, meals, and recess.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates degree or higher, or a high school diploma with successful pletion of a paraprofessional certification program (meets Rhode Island state requirements).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with high needs populations in an educational or related setting.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and munication skills, ability to work effectively with students with diverse needs, and proficiency in implementing behavior management techniques.
  • Certification: Paraprofessional Certification as required by Rhode Island state law.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with students with autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances, or other significant disabilities.
  • Knowledge of best practices for inclusive education and behavior management.
